Artificiality, and Spatiality

چکیده
We begin by reviewing current spatial approaches to CSCW (mediaspaces, spatial video conferencing, collaborative virtual environments and telepresence applications) and classifying them along the proposed dimensions of transportation, artificiality and spatiality. This classification leads us to identify new shared space applications; so called mixed realities. We present an example of a mixed reality called the Internet Foyer, an application which provides a unified entry point into an organisation's physical and electronic environments and which supports awareness and chance encounters between the occupants of physical and synthetic space.

Unification 5.1 Overview 5.2. towards Unifying Artificiality
In this chapter, a unifying framework of emergent artificiality grounded in a computationalist metaphysics is presented. First, an approach to unification based on Simon's concept of artificiality and briefly described in chapter 4 is re-examined. A problem with this approach is reviewed and an appropriate solution strategy outlined. The notion of unification is investigated and a brief survey ...
متن کاملStill More about Subfitness
Several features of subfitness are analyzed. Isbell’s Spatiality Theorem leads to the concept of T1-spatiality which is compared with the TD-spatiality. Subfitness is put into relation with other weak separation axioms (and with the existence of nearness), both in spaces and locales, and seeming discrepancies are explained. A new characteristic of subfitness by means of codensity is presented.
متن کاملFormal Descriptions of Cognitive Processes of Perceptions on Spatiality, Time, and Motion
Recent researches in both cognitive informatics and computational intelligence are interested in the human perceptual senses of spatiality, time, and motion, which are fundamental cognitive life functions according to the Layered Reference Model of the Brain (LRMB). This paper presents the cognitive process of human perceptual senses on spatiality, time, and motion. The sense of spatiality is i...
متن کاملReducibility, a constructive dual of spatiality
An intuitionistic analysis of the relationship between pointfree and pointwise topology brings new notions to light that are hidden from a classical viewpoint. In this paper, we introduce one of these, namely the notion of reducibility for a pointfree topology, which is classically equivalent to spatiality. We study its basic properties and we relate it to spatiality and to other concepts in co...
متن کاملSpatiality for formal topologies
We define what it means for a formal topology to be spatial, and investigate properties related to spatiality both in general and in examples.
